The IJsselmeer, the Wattensee
and the North Sea

EXPERIENCE THE LANDSCAPE!

Mother nature has never been so spectacular

Unique in the world, this area is characterized by a particularly high level of diversity. Lakes, canals and enchanting landscapes characterize the inland area of Holland.
The IJsselmeer is easy to navigate thanks to the good handling of the yachts. The Wattensee, with its canals, prills and strong tidal currents, make for a very individual attraction for the sailor. The Frisian Islands impress with their family atmosphere and the beauty of the very unique dune landscapes. The North Sea lives through its rough, Frisian way and forms a dreamlike basis for an island hopping experience of more than 20 islands. Across the North Sea along the islands to the Ems and inland from the Ems back to Lemmer - a warm welcome! PURE NATURE

Charterstützpunkt

Our base is the Lemmer marina, which is very quiet, but still within walking distance of the town center. Our base is located in the immediate vicinity of various supermarkets, so that filling up the on-board provisions is no problem for you. Restaurants, pubs and the beach are within walking distance. Our port is an outer port, so you don’t have to waste time through the locks on the IJsselmeer. This means that you are a big step ahead of many charter customers in Lemmer and you do not have to "queue" for long at the locks.

Parking spaces directly on the jetty are part of the port area.

Das Ijsselmeer

Brief history of the IJsselmeer

The IJsselmeer was created by building a dam in the north (between Den Oever and Zurich near Harlingen) and thus closing off part of the Zuiderzee. The final dike was completed on May 28, 1932 and the official name change of the water body took place on September 20, 1932. The part of the former Zuiderzee north of the final dike is now considered to be the Wadden Sea. In the south, the Houtribdijk between Lelystad and Enkhuizen separates the IJsselmeer from the Markemeer.

Popular for water sports

The IJsselmeer in Holland with its over 1,000 square kilometers of water has been known for water sports for many decades. Picturesque port cities, modern marinas and well-protected waters make the sailing area so popular for charter a sailing yacht.

Lemmer is the ideal starting point for sailing on the IJsselmeer. From Lemmer you have many opportunities to explore the area and you are very flexible when planning your trip. Whether you are planning a charter just for the weekend or want to spend your two-week family vacation on the IJsselmeer: There are many ways to plan a varied sailing trip. Many ports are very easy to reach with short strolls and offer many opportunities for activities.

Wadden Sea - Waddenzee and the West Frisian Islands

The West Frisian islands of Terschelling, Texel and Vlieland in the north of Holland can be easily reached via the locks in the north and, with their long sandy beaches, offer a lot of fun and variety, especially for children. The inland lakes of Friesland can also be explored with many of our sailing boats. Our Varianta 18 is especially suitable for sailing trips on the Frisian lakes Heegermeer, Sneeker Meer and Tjeukemeer.

Weather at the IJsselmeer

The sailing weather on the IJsselmeer is ideal for sailing from March to November. However, due to its northern location, it can often be volatile and it is impossible to predict how the weather will develop in any given month of the year. We have had wonderful sailing weeks in March and April with temperatures around 20 °. The summer months of June, July and August are often very warm with temperatures between 25 ° and 35 °, whereby August can sometimes be very stormy.

The IJsselmeer with a difference!

On course to the highlights

At some point, after many years of sailing in Holland, the crew has already been everywhere. The villages are visited, the ports known. Nevertheless, it is also worth visiting well-known places a second, third or tenth time. Or you set off to new goals. Out to the West and East Frisian Islands. Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling and Ameland.
If you have enough time, you shouldn't miss the East Frisian Islands. Borkum, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangeroog should be seen by a sailor. It is also practical (with prevailing westerly winds) to sail before the wind to Wangeroog and then to use the standing mast route - inland back to the base. This route alone is a real experience. Let's go!
